2. The 2nd Special Session on Visual Recognition, Processing and Automation (ViRPA)
Organizers:
Dakshina Ranjan Kisku
National Institute of Technology Durgapur
Email:drkisku.cse@nitdgp.ac.in
Scope and Topics:
Humans are most
intelligent species who make thousands of decisions in every
single day. However, making decision needs efficient
cognitive actions that create a functional mapping to the
target object or thing. Generating an appropriate functional
mapping with distinctive information is a difficult task on
machines. To empower the machines to perform human like
decisions in order to classify objects or understanding a
particular scene in complex environments need proper
analysis and utilization of subjective matter very well
including performing specific tasks of image processing, and
applicability of machine vision and pattern recognition
techniques. These paradigms would help the systems to learn
about the diverse environment with lots of entities in bit
more typical way even with incomplete information.
Therefore, to use the correct image processing and vision
approaches might transform ill-treated and distorted
patterns to a distinctive and unique features groups which
further make the learning algorithm suitable for taking
decision in real world scenario. Image processing, pattern
recognition and computer vision are interlinked topics which
initiated the industrial revolution in the areas of
automated intelligent systems and machine perception. They
solved many practical cognitive and machine vision problems
with paramount competency and shaped up the digital world
with illustrious examples. They have made significant
contributions in the areas of image analysis, feature
extraction, object recognition, image segmentation, image
enhancement, biometrics, motion analysis, depth estimation,
machine and deep learning, medical imaging, object
detection, video processing, industrial automation,

Email: baowz55555@126.com
Scope and Topics:
Since the birth of
artificial intelligence, the theory and technology are
increasingly mature. The application field is also
expanding. According to some laws and mechanisms in the
process of natural evolution, and researchers deal with
problems though imitation. That is where theoretical
computational intelligence comes in. Theoretical
computational intelligence is the successor of artificial
intelligence. In addition, it turns into one of the most
active researches in the field of intelligent information
science. Theoretical computational intelligence has been
successfully used to solve the critical problems in pattern
recognition, data mining, image processing and so on.
Nowadays, there is some representative algorithms in the
field such as fuzzy systems, neural networks, evolutionary
computation, group intelligence and immune system, etc.
Recently, theoretical computational intelligence is at rapid
development, in the case of both methodological development
and practical applications. Computational intelligence plays
pivotal roles in finding the stable convergence of the
optimal solution or approximate optimal solution through
multiple iterative calculation. Especially in practical
applications, it has been widely implemented by researchers.
Computational intelligence is an essential combination of
learning, adaptation and evolution used to intelligent and
innovative applications. Similar to other scientific
domains, there is no doubt that computational intelligence
has a great research space both in theory and in
applications. This workshop consists of invited talks and
contributed talks, and welcomes submission of both papers
and short abstracts, where all submissions will be subject
to peer review. The topics of interest include but are not
limited to the following: Applications of theoretical
Computational Intelligence in bioinformatics Applications of

Disease diagnosis is a complex
evidence-based process that requires various data to
complement each other. As the most intuitive way of
displaying symptoms, medical imaging plays an important role
in intelligent diagnosis and precision analysis. Especially
in recent years, the advancement of artificial intelligence
technology has promoted breakthroughs in various fields of
precision medicine. However, it is still difficult to
analyze medical imaging data with high efficiency, high
accuracy, and high consistency, due to four limitations:
symptom complexity, data variation, algorithm efficiency,
and the subjective differences between different clinicians.
Hence, intelligence analysis technology still has great
potential to simplify the diagnostic process, improve the
analysis accuracy and efficiency, and better assist
clinicians in the diagnosis of lesions. For this Research
Topic, we would like to bring together the latest progress
of medical intelligent analysis technologies, such as
medical intelligent diagnosis and prognosis analysis,
complex fusion processing of multi- modality medical data,
medical image classification, segmentation, detection,
registration, reconstruction, intelligent analysis and so
on. These key biomedicine intelligent analysis technologies
are the basis of precision medicine as well as the hot
research areas. We believe that these critical medical
intelligent analysis technologies will significantly improve
the abilities to achieve intelligent diagnosis and precision
medicine. We welcome submissions of Original Research and
Review articles focusing on the intelligent analysis of
medical imaging data for precision medicine. Topics of
interest include but are not limited to any of the
sub-topics listed below: Multi-modality fusion for
diagnosis, image analysis, and image-guided interventions
Medical image classification Medical image biomarkers
Medical image reconstruction Medical image registration
Medical image segmentation Medical image retrieval Medical
image data mining Computer-aided detection/diagnosis
Outcome/disease prediction/survival prediction
Quantification based on intelligent analysis of medical
imaging data Interpretability and Complexity Analysis of
Machine Learning.

intelligence, swarm intelligence and machine learning have
attracted attentions from both scholars and engineers in the
field of optimization algorithm design and industrial

inspired by the behavior in self-organized groups, such as
birds, ants, bacteria, etc., hold the superiority in complex
optimization problems. Machine learning algorithms, such as
the reinforcement learning and federated machine learning,
have shown strong ability in interactive learning
environment. How to utilize swarm intelligence algorithms
and machine learning algorithms to deal with problems in
optimization algorithm design and industrial applications
remains to be an interesting topic. The objective of this
special session is to gather recent theoretical
